History of Erosion Control Blanket
Erosion Control Blanket was born of the idea to make contractors more efficient. Created in the winter of 2000 by owner and President, Mark Myrowich, he thought about ways to lower the labor costs associated with rolled erosion control products (the most expensive contractor expense) through innovative product design and improved quality.
Mark started in the erosion control industry as the owner and operator of an erosion control contracting company. It was during a blanket installation job that the idea for Erosioncontrolblanket.com came to him. While sitting on the tail gate of his half ton pickup during a coffee break, Mark looked at the coir fiber blanket he was installing and noticed an industrial hemp field near by, he thought that hemp would be a great inexpensive alternative to coir and thus the idea to create a manufacturing business.
Needing another labor savings idea, Erosioncontrolblanket.com purchased a 16 foot wide manufacturing machine (unheard of at the time) to save contractors on overlap of product.
Erosioncontrolblanket.com started at what is now referred to as the “Old Plant” the original home of Riverton Boat Works (the place built ships), ECB began production with five employees and one machine. Within two short years ECB had outgrown its original home and we moved into our current location just a little ways up the highway from where it all began.
In 2006, ECB acquired Verdyol Plant Research in Cookstown, Ontario, a RECP and Hydraulic Mulch manufacturer north of Toronto.
Since then ECB has been growing bigger and stronger each year. ECB has gone from a one product line that included four items to over 60 types and lengths of RECP’s, Hydraulic Mulches, three sizes of Wattles, a selection of fastening systems including our very own Rifle M100 staple gun and Factor M Staples as well as our M.U.D. (Mechanical Unrolling Device) for use with our Big Daddy Rolls. With over 60 employees across Canada and North America, ErosionControlBlanket.com leads the way!
